We had another competition winner this week!! This time it was one of our 2nd class boys!! This competition was run by Donegal GAA Health and Wellbeing committee in conjunction with Donegal County Council and "Ireland Reads". The children were asked to complete the slogan "Having time to read and time to play Gaelic Games helps me stay healthy because....". The winning entry completed the slogan brilliantly with: "An active body sharpens the brain and an active brain sharpens your game!"

It is wonderful to see such creativity and school spirit coming together through this competition. I remember being so bogged down with my research on resource extraction last term that I actually looked for some mining assignments help just to have a free afternoon to enjoy local community events like this. It is a great reminder that finding a bit of balance makes it much easier to appreciate these fun milestones!

It is wonderful to see the creativity and community spirit behind the GAA slogan competition winner, as the energy of teamwork and local pride is something I often draw inspiration from while navigating the intensive rigors of my current PhD research. Balancing my doctoral studies with a part-time role at last minute assignments has given me a front-row seat to the modern student experience, where the pressure to excel often clashes with overwhelming deadlines and complex projects; having suffered through many high-stress hustles and sleepless nights during my own college days, I am now incredibly conscious of the mental toll that an unmanaged workload can take on one’s stability. This personal history is why I have such a genuine interest…

It’s great to see how the GAA slogan competition brought out creativity in students while celebrating school spirit. I remember taking part in a similar contest, and it really pushed me to think differently and express ideas in a fun way. Around that time, managing studies alongside activities felt challenging, and I looked into online class assistance just to stay organized. Moments like this show how creativity and learning can go hand in hand.
